XM Radio Buyers Guide
HELPING YOU MAKE A BETTER BUYING DECISION
Over the years many of our customers have asked us which XM Radio receiver is right for them. With so many different choices of receivers in the marketplace, we understand why people ask us that question. The answer is not the same for everyone but it can be narrowed down by answering a few simple questions. A few months ago our staff was encouraged to write a Buyer's Guide that would help customers understand the different types of receivers and assist them with the buying decision. It is my sincere hope that after you read this XM Radio buyer's guide you will be more informed and better prepared when purchasing your XM Radio receiver and that you will feel confident that you made the right decision.

How XM Satellite Radio Works
Satellite radio is one of the greatest inventions of our time. It utilizes many facets of technology to bring us the crystal clear variety of music, talk, sports, entertainment and more, that so many of us love. This image gives a general depiction of how the signal is transmitted and sent down to radios all across the US and Canada. XM Radio compiles content in its studios then broadcasts its signal up to satellites above the earth. Those satellites transmit the signal down to earth and it is picked up by XM antennas connected to XM receivers. Those receivers decode the signal and connect to external radios such as car stereos, home theaters or other amplified sound systems.
