What is XM Ready?
If a home entertainment product is labeled as XM Ready, it means that product has everything you need to play XM once you connect the XM Connect and Play antenna. No other accessories are needed.
What is the XM Connect-and-Play?
The XM Connect-and-Play is primarily an integrated antenna that contains core elements of both an XM antenna and an XM receiver in one discreet package. Supporting the antenna is a brand new technology platform, which creates a low-cost, standard interface for playing XM through a variety of consumer electronics products. Both elements make for an incredibly inexpensive and easy way to get XM through home and portable entertainment products.
How does the Connect-and-Play antenna work?
The Connect-and-Play antenna receives the XM signal, processes it and delivers crisp, clean digital audio to the system to which it is connected. You simply plug the single cable connection into an XM Ready audio system and activate the service. There is nothing else to do!
How does a manufacturer make their product "XM Ready"?
The centerpieces of the technology are XM's "Connect-and-Play" chip and data-port, a low-cost, mini-serial bus connector. For a low relative incremental cost, manufacturers of popular consumer electronics products can now add the XM "Connect-and-Play" chip and data-port, making their device "XM-Ready".
Is there a separate subscription required with the Connect-and-Play?
Because the Connect-and-Play is an XM receiver, it does require activation and a subscription fee, currently $12.95 per month if it is the first XM receiver on an account. Otherwise, as an additional receiver, service would be priced at $6.99 per month.
What other accessories do I need to make my XM Ready system work?
None. The Connect-and-Play antenna (with its standard 25-foot cable) is the only thing you need to get XM through your XM Ready system. Fifty-foot extension cables will be made available should a longer length of cable be desired for certain homes.
What products will the Connect-and-Play work with?
Any home audio entertainment product with the XM Ready logo on it should support use of the Connect and Play antenna. Note: The Connect and Play does not work with automotive systems, even those that say XM Ready. For more details on XM Ready automotive solutions visit XM Direct.
Can I use the Connect and Play on the stereo receiver I just bought last month?
The Connect and Play antenna will only work with entertainment systems clearly marked with "XM Ready" and/or the Connect-and-Play logo.
* Please note that this antenna will NOT work with XM Ready Vehicle Systems.
